Doc Anderson

Chocolaterie Stam in Downtown Ames is hosting a free family event in their downtown store from 9am to 2pm on Thursday July 4th featuring professional magician Doc Anderson.

Doc Anderson is one of Iowa’s premier magicians specializing in close up magic, a specialized form of sleight of hand made popular by magicians like David Blaine and Criss Angel.

“Close up magic is much more difficult than stage magic because it happens right under the audience’s nose and often right in their own hands” says Anderson, “A stage magician is far away from the audience, but when it’s up close, there is literally nowhere to hide. And because the audience can see everything, close up magic some of the most powerful performance magic possible for young and old alike. You really have to see it to believe it.”

In addition to close up magic, Doc will also demonstrate some of the classic Old-West cheats and swindles such as the shell game, the three card monte and deck stacking up close and personal.

“When you see how it’s done” says Anderson, “it’s easy to see how a fool and his money were lucky to get together in the first place.

Anderson’s performance, as well as face painting at Chocolaterie Stam, is part of the Downtown Ames July 4th festivitiies.
